Island of Aruba is located only 15 miles away from Venezuela, it lies in warm waters of Caribbean sea. The biggest city of Aruba is Oranjestad, this colorful town offers great vacations to tourists from all corners of the world. The city looks pretty unique with its Dutch colonial style, colorful buildings, the Spanish influence is also seen in the city architecture especially in their gardens or balconies with its light colors really gives the city special energy. City is known for gardens, interesting shopping places, centers and for planty museums and historic sites.
One of the main attractions city has to offer is Wilhelmina Park with beautiful park that was designed in 1955, in the middle of the park there is a marble statue of Wilhelmina the queen mother. Aruba Historial museum lies at Fort Zoutman in their Tower. In museum you will see all kinds of artifacts that are connected to the whole history from beginning of Aruba island. Another interesting sightseeing place is the Atlantis Submarine, on this trip you will experience the barcadera reef and see all the richness of the coral reef, ship wrecks and marine life in general. Visitors spend usually arund 45 minutes in the submarine.
Oranjestad is proud to have a beautiful butterfly farm, they have butterflies from all around the world. Butterflies live in a closed tropical garden where you can admire their life from every stage of it. Aruba has its own Numismatic Museum, they have all kinds of world currencies the oldest is dating back in 221 BC, museum ha salso shell beads, wampum and you can see there real bills made from silk or linen.
If you want to experience snorkeling or cruises you should go to Streat Charters they offer short snorkeling or cruise trips around Aruba. Short trips include early in the morning cruise with stops for lunch and snorkeling. You can also hire a private charters with its own private crew and captain. For people who enjoy in the culture Oranjestad has the Access Art Gallery where you can admire art works from international and national artists. Floating Market is another interesting thing in Oranjestad you can buy there freh fruits, vegetables, spices, fish from boats. There is also Archaeological Museum of Arbua but it is closed right now because they are relocating the whole thing to a different location. Oranjestad ha salso a very modern and unique Protestand Church, interesting fact of this church is that you'll find a Bible Museum in the church. |
