Old town Dubrovnik
This beautiful historic city lies on the southern area of the Croatian coast. The region is called Dalmatia. The Dubrovnik province is surrounded with numberous islands that are close to the town and a narrow band of the mainland. The Dubrovnik coastal area extends to the north west of Dubrovnik.
Slano is one of the most known villages among other friendly villages. Close to Dubrovnik is also the second largest peninsula in Croatia called Peljesac. At the beninning of Peljesac peninsula a little historic little town of Ston is located, it is 5,5 kilometers long. Ston is the area that is known for clutivation of delicious shellfish and production of salt.
Small islands around Dubrovnik
Numerous of islands are located just out from the coast of the Dubrovnik region, one of the most known islands in this area are Mljet, Lastovo and Korcula. This series continues with islands of Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan they all belong among Elaphite islands. The most known and visited is the sixth largest island on the Adriatic Sea, the island of Korcula. It is full with amazing ancient island villages, olive groves, beautiful beaches and azure, clean sea.
One of the smaller populated islands on teh Adriatic is island of Lastovo, you can find amazing beaches and inlets. Lastovo is a perfect place for people who want to enjoy their holidays in untouched nature. Another great island that is located close to Dubrovnik is island of Mljet with its rich forests and greenery is known to be one of the most gorgeous islands of the whole Adriatics. Mljet ha san amazing Natural Park with two larger lakes The big lake and The small lake with salty water. Elaphite islands are also very close to Dubrovnik, they are great for its Mediterranean atmosphere and amazing sandy beaches, nature lovers will adore this little island and its not far away from town Dubrovnik.
Surroundings of Dubrovnik
Zupa Dubrovacka extends very close to Dubrovnik and along this area you will find plenty of amazing tourist places such as: Soline, Plat, Srebreno, Mlini and Kupari. On southernmost part of Croatia there is a small area called Konavle, this area is surrounded with hills and lies close to the Adriatic Sea and to Dubrovnik.
On the west side it extends to the small Croatian town of Cavtat and on the east side it extends all the way to the peninsula of Prevlaka. Mediterranean village of Cavtat is a picturesque village with lots of tourists. If you visit the town of Dubrovnik it is also great to go to Cavtat and explore also this region, enjoy in their amazing native food, great white and red wine, olive oil, fish, shellfish and other seafruits.
