Discovering coast and islands of Kvarner
Another name for Kvarner area is also Apsyrtides. The name has been associated with the story of argonauts who stole the Golden Fleece and run from the Black Sea on the Danube and Sava river then. The ship was transferred to the Adriatic Sea by argonauts. Their path tothe Greece was not without complications. King, whom Golden Fleece stole it for them, sent a son by name Apsyrtides to catch up exactly at the point of today's Kvarner. Jazon has traveled with the sister of Apsyrtides- his name was Medea. In negotiation between argonauts and Apsyrtides Jason killed, cuted up and threw Apsyrtides into the sea. The pieces were formed Kvarner Islands, which includes Cres, Krk, Losinj, Rab, Pag, Union, Susak, Ilovik and other smaller islands.

Kvarner area
Area of Kvarner covers both inland area as well as the northern Adriatic islands. On this area live 323.000 inhabitants while the largest city of Rijeka with 165,000 inhabitants. The highest peaks of the area are Risnjak 1528m, 1506m Snjeznik, Viševnica Ucka 1428m and 1396m. Biggest islads are Krk 406 km2, Cres 406 km2. Lakes: Vransko lake (Cres island), Lokvarsko Lake, Bajer Lake.
The northern part of Adriatic Sea
The northern part of the Adriatic Sea (Istria and Kvarner) has been more easily accessible to tourists while Dalmatia – due to its preaty poor road links – has a shorter but more intensive season, in July and August. Dalmatian coast is still sparsely inhabited and underdeveloped, and therefore preserved in an untouched natural condition.
Although the littoral region and submarine areas already offer a range of attractive locations for both rest and diving, those familiar with the Croatian coastline are aware of the fact that the natural and cultural wealth of this part of the Adriatic still to be discovered are yet to show the true value of the Adriatic.
The waters around Cres and Losinj
The waters around Cres and Losinj are one of the most attractive areas in the Adriatic – particularly their western shores – with clarity of the sea and the wealth of the submarine-living world. The area is full of underwater reefs with gorgonians and caves.
