The town of Corte lies in the middle of the Island of Corsica. The first thing you will see at arriving to the city of Corte, will be the fortress on the rock above the town. Its Citadel is visible from the all sides of the town and on the other hand - the view from the fortress to the town and surrounding mouintains is just great.
The Citadelle of Corte was already fortified in the 13th century. Genoese conquest transformed Citadell to real fortress in 1419. In the upper town lies the most interesting small square with a monument and small restaurants and shops around it. Its name is Pascal Paoli Square. Anothe square is Jean Pierre Gaffori.
