A lot of people remember Salvador Dali because he had always those famous moustaches or because allways repeated motives such as egg and melting watch.
Salvador Dali life
Salvador Dali was born in 1904 in Figueras in north-south of Spain. He experienced his highest point of painting career as surrealistic artist in years 1926 to 1938, but than his artistic strainght got weaker and weaker.
Dali art as mask?
Dali started to repet himself and he became more a cirsus-man and trashy. The reason for his artistic decadence is probably a fact that Dali never wanted to confess his homosexual inclinations. The art became for him some kind of mask, so he could hide him from his fears and doubts about himself. The main role in this part of Dalis life was Dalis conection with poet Federico Garcia Lorca, he was killed in year 1936 by sympathisers of general Franco. Lorca was presumably very much in love in Salvador Dali, but Dali was even at the thougt about homosexuality totally schocked, so he rejected Lorca. If Dali confessed his love to Lorca, he would probably became even better artist.
Dali and General Franco
A huge credit in Dalis career life had his wife Gala. This Russian lady was his life companion, a maternal person and also his personal manager. She allways knew how to inspire him and successfully sell his artistic works, so Dali became one of the richest artist of that time. Through years their relationship became more and more strange. When Gala became old lady she loved that she was surrounded with younger men and lovers.
Dali despised every body contact, he went back to village Ligat and he started to associate himself with lot of strange and doubtfoul people. Even now is unclear why Dali became friend with General Franco, because in his youth he was against him. Some experts think that Dali was allways attracted to dictators, because he had that kind of chaotic way of life, but dictators were to him a syboml for some kind of order. Some people think that Dali became friends with Franco only because he wanted in peace to consetrate in his art.
Dali and Gala
Salvador Dali met his wife Helena Dimitriovnie Diakonova, also known as Gala, in 1929. She was in that time married to Paul Eluard, he was the leader of the Surrealist Movement. When Dali met Gala he belived that he had found the perfect women and figure. She was also impressed by Dali. So she returned Dalis affections by leaving his housband Eluard and joined Dalis adventurestic and special life for next forty years.
She had a very babyface, but she was also a very beautiful and eroticall women. They loved each other with a lot of attention and passion. Gala was very down to eart and pretty realistic person. She also took care of Dalis manc financial matters and legal matters such as contracts with dealers. Salvador Dali was very thankful for his wifes ability to keep their life and things organized.
They bought a barracks for fishermans near the Port Lligat in Catalonia, this is 2 kilometers away from Cadaques, they loved to stayed there in spring to autumn. They lived there almost the whole of their lives. Only during winter time they would love to travel to New York or Paris. Gala and Dali didn’t have children.
