Su Nuraxi - archeological area
Su Nuraxi archeological site can be easely reached . Once you get the built-up area of Barumini, at the main crossroads you tur left to the Tuli road. Go straight on for about one km and you find it on your left side.Archaeological area of Barumini
Archaeological area of Barumini consists a monumental quadrilobate complex dated back to the 15th century BC. and a village of huts developed in 12th century BC. Because of its uniqueness as from 1997 it has been enrolled by UNESCO in the World Heritage List. .
The visit of Su Nuraxi archeological site is possible every day from 9:00 a.m. to one houre before the sunset. You can visit this area only with a tour leader for security reasons. Tours start every half an hour.
Museum in Barumini
You can also visit Museum of Casa Zapata. It is situated In the centre of the village of Barumini, next to the parish church entitled to the Blessed Immaculate Virgin Mary. It is museum complex mounted into the noble residence built in the 16th century and belonged to the Zapata family coming from Aragon. The museum consists of 3 section: Archaelogical , historical and etnografic section.
An archaelogical section mounted into the medieval palace, extraordinary built on a trilobate nuraghe called Su Nuraxi 'e Cresia (the nuraghe of the church) which you can visit through some upper footbridges and some glass floors. In historical section are preserved some of the most important papers and photos telling the history of this noble family. The ethographic section made up two small showrooms. In the first one can admire some old objects telling the everyday life in the village of Barumini during the last century, while in the second one you find the Regional Museum of Launeddas (old Sardinian musical instrument realized with simple marsh canes) mounted thanks to the maste Luigi.

Moreover inside it you have the chance to see a precious collection of some findings discovered in Su Nuraxi archeological site. These last ones have been revitalized by the technicians of the local laboratory of archaeological restoration, who have also created an educational section, where it is possible to practise some very interesting activites about restoration and clay making.
