Fishermen's Nights: This event is usually organized by the sea, on the open air, usually once a week. Fishermen's Nights are a great cultural event where you can experience true Dalmatia with homemade wine, fish specialities and music all for resonable prices.
Fishermen's Nights are organised in Prizba, Brna, Vela Luka, Grscica or Lumbarda.
Events in Korcula island
St. John's Regatta in Vela Luka: On June 24th this special event is held on St. John's Day. The event is about a paddle boat regatta.
First they have a mass in medieval church of St. John of Gradina then the blessing of herbs usually rosemary and lavender takes place and after that boats takes place and regatta can start.
Natives support the competitors by singing and cheering. They decorate boats with flags and flowers, All the competitors celebrate together when the winner has been announced.
The battle of Gica in Blato: Like a time machine the reconstruction of the battle of Gica will take you back in time and amuse you like nothing else. In 1571 the Battle of Gica took place.
What happened is that Turkish conquerors came and captured children and woman. In Kupmanija men of Blato organized national guard and caught them on Gica defeated the enemy and liberated the prisoners. In front of the parish church the reconstruction of this battle takes place usually in the evening hours.
Sword Dances Due to its unique sword dances Moreska, Mostra and Kumpanija island of Korcula is an amzing place. This events take place during the whole year especially in summer months.
Every Thursday there is event Moreska that you can enjoy in town Korcula from month of May to month of June. Once a week they performe Kumpanija in villages Blato, Smokvica and Vela Luka.
Days of Posip wine
Days of Posip in Smokvica and Cara at the Open Days of Wine Cellars take place from 27th July to 3rd August. You can see and taste wines of Smokvica and Cara every day from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In Brna they have another wine festival on the 4th of August. They have the whole event in Brna where you can taste gastro specialties, wines and listen to some good, traditional Dalmatian music.
Festival of Baroque music in Korcula Just recently established international music festival The Korkyra Baroque Festival really is something special. Top baroque musicians from all over Europe are performing on this festival. The music brings back the exciting and rich history of Korcula town.
