Tscheppaschlucht is a picturesque gorge in Austria. It lies near Ljubelj pass near border with Slovenia.

Tscheppaschlucht gorge is during the year visited by 70.000 tourists. It is one of the most famous and beleagued touristic sights in Carinthia region. Everyone who visited gorge was amazed over his beauty. You will find the entrance in the gorge by settled and well secured parking place above Unterloibl village. The hike is around good hour long, on a secured path by the river, under rocks and ladders. You should also visit town Ferlach, which is 15 km away form Tscheppaschlucht gorge and lies in Rožna valley. Ferlach is known by its gunmaker industry and hunting. In their castle you will find good settled hunting and gunsmith museum.

Tscheppaschlucht gorge includes interesting adventure parks, which were built without major interferences in nature and forest surroundings. Here you will find interesting climbing frames, which are placed all over forest stalks, branches and treetops. The greatest adrenalin top would probably be the longest cable railway above the gorge (Flying Fox). This cable railway lies in Austria and is 300 metres long.

In this area travellers can experience lovely hikes around Tscheppaschlucht canyon. Before Austrian and Slovenian border you can park your car, and start your hike to the Tscheppaschlucht (Tscheppa Canyon).

This beautiful gorge features stunning sights, wooden pathways and ladders. From this place the path will lead you to another interesting hike in the Boden Valley.

Boden Valley lies between Slovenia and Austria. This beautiful province is surrounded with fertile pastures and mountains. On the way back to parking place there are a lot of restaurants where travellers can enjoy in traditional food and hearty meals.

The gorge has seven waterfalls, and the seventh one is the most impressive, the 26m high Tschaukofall. It is reached by crossing the Teufelsbrücke (Devils Bridge), a natural bridge

Hike through gorge is definitely not a sunday afternoon stroll, good shoes are necessary. People who are not able to walk at least four kilometres or are suffering from giddiness should renounce. You may either walk up 800m to the gorge and 1,200m through the gorge and then back again, or you may walk up, turn right into the Bodental, and then take a ride back to the parking lot on the Tscheppaschlucht-Bus. The bus stops hourly at the Bodental, Windisch Bleiberg, the restaurant Deutscher Peter, and the Tschaukofall.
