    Gmunden tourism on Lake Traunsee

From Bad Ischl, we have taken a town of Gmunden. The road led us near a yellow green lake Traunsee. We stopped a few kilometers from the city and prepared bycikles. For August mont the weather was very cold, so we wear warm clothes. After a short cycling near the lake, we reach the town centre and the coast from where we had a nice view to the picturesque island on the lake. Trip to Lake Traunsee

The Schloss Orth set in the lake Traunsee is connected to mainland by a wooden bridge. The origins of when this castle was built are still unknown, but the tower has been documented as early as 1092 a.d.
The property includes an arcaded courtyard and a small chapel that has become a popular place to get married.

Castle was bought in 1878 by a nephew of Emperor Franz-Josef who lived here under the pseudonym of Johann Ort. Years later he claimed to know the truth of what happened at Mayerling to Archduke Rudolf and Maria but he disappeared in unexplained circumstances on a cruise in South America without ever having told anybody.
