    Grossglockner - Heiligenblut (Holly blood)

    Heiligenblut lies in the Austrian-Carinthian province, it is an attractive village under famous Grossglockner about 1.300 meters over the sea. About this place are connected also different mythological stories. The area around mountain Grossglockner is known for the golden vein of Europe.

    Heiligenblut is one of the hidden gems of Austria - the drive and the Grossglockner Road itself with this amazing little town makes this a must-see . The area attract for 200 years climbers and mountaineers from all over the world.

    The local pople are saying that Heiligenblut is the only starting point to the mountain peak of Grossglockner, all the other ways are apropriate for not experienced climbers. The village Heiligenblut is a very beautiful her trade mark is in gothical style built church of St. Vincent.

    The region on the edge of Austrians highest and biggest national park offers many winter and sports activities from climbing to hiking. Because of the excellent position, lots of rainfall and great slopes Heiligenblut becomes more and more popular with skiiers and climbers. The slopes of the highest Carinthian skiing resort lies on over 25 hectares and on 1.300 to 2902 metres of hight, and offers slopes for beginners and experienced skiiers. Heiligenblut has 55 kilometers of skiing routes and 13 cable cars, but it doesent belong among the biggest skiing resorts. What makes Heiligenblut so special is their tunnel gondola. The gondola takes skiiers in good five minutes through 1,6 kilometer long tunnel to the other side of Golden mountain range.

    Heiligenblut - origin for winter and summer activity

    The biggest distinction of the »Holy blood« is definitely her position, because it lies between the mountains and is perfectly protected before soft weather, because of that people can ski here also along green winters on natural snow. In the village the locals are trying to extend the touristic season on the whole year. Along hiking people can enjoy here also in mountaineer cycling. In the winter time are also very popular hiking tours in snowshoes, that is how people can enjoy in the nature, history, geography, flora and fauna.
