Campomoro beach

Campomoro - near the town of Propriano is one of my favorites sites in Corsica. There is a popular anchorage, village and long sandy beach in a large bay. The bay is circled by trees and scrub-covered hills. Campomoro beach is very shallow so it is perfect place for small children. There is one of the biggest old fort and tower on the Corsica.

At the springtime we enjoy days in the the clean water for swimming and soaking. We ate dinner in one of restaurants in village and enjoy Limoncello Liqueur. The bars and restaurants in the village were filled with divers and jetskiers as well as those admiring the view.

The long beach of Campomoro is one's Corsica's finest. There is a fring of restaurants and bars. When the weather is cooler it is nice to do a walk along the coast to Genoese Tower. The guides explained that Campomoro is the largest of all the Genoese Towers on the island, and was originally designed to have two floors rather than just one. The plans were changed due to continual bad weather during construction so the tower is now the same height but almost twice the diameter of the others. It was predominantly used as a coastal defence and from here one can truly appreciate the strategic positioning.

The sand here is fabulous for walking because it’s very fine so it compacts down and makes a really comfortable, low impact base to walk on. Many time when the clouds cover most of the Valinco bay, this little corner was still gloriously warm and sunny.

Discover the Valinco bay, Propriano and the surroundings villages on your holidays in Corsica. The area offers many activities such as scuba-diving and horse-riding. You can choose one of the hotels in Propriano close the sea and beaches.

Another choise are hotels in town of Sartene. The town is located uphill on the gulf of Valinco, 10 kilometres from the sea. It offers a view to the sea, the mountains and the village of Sartene. . The view from hotels in Sartene was incredible, breakfast on the terrace was a dream and the hotel's proximity to the town, while being private and quiet, was excellent.
