    Visit Ajaccio Corsica

A little further south from town of Porto in direction of Piana is reserve of the Calanques de Piana another world-renowned site of Corsica. The wind and water eroded granite rocks of the Calanques de Piana form a stunning architecture with colours changing from golden, pink to red depending on where the sun is. For those who are driving through Calanques de Piana road it is the most attractive at sunset.

Discovering surrounding of town of Porto and Piana

A scenic, but very winding and narrow road passes through the Calanques and is probably the best access to discover the area. At regular places on side of the road you can stop for the moment and take a picture. There is also a bit larger car park from where it is possible to take a hike in the Calanques.

Les Calanques de Piana is one of the most stunning landscapes on the island. The Corsican railway provides some scenic views of the island as the train strays from the nearby road and rumbles and winds its way through the mountainous area. The cliffs and pinnacles of red porphyry are visited both by sea with boat trips, and trekking the trails of the Nature Park, or drive through the park.
The location of Calanche of Piana lies on the mid western shoreline of the isle. The natural reserve, which is part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, occupies porphyritic rock group of Scandola isthmus. The location consists of a shoreline of astonishing attractiveness studded with offshore islets and sea pillars growing out of clear waters.
