Where is Porto Ferro beach
The beach is two kilometer long sand beach wich colours varies from ocra to orange. Behind the beach Porto Ferro in direction of lake Lago Baratz one can find large dunes high up to 20 m.
Porto Ferro beach is located in the inlet, which is 30 km far from Alghero, about 50 km from Sassari and 10 km from Porto Conte bay. The beach is two kilometer long sand beach wich colours varies from ocra to orange.
Sandy beach of "Iron harbour"
Behind the beach Porto Ferro in direction of lake Lago Baratz one can find large dunes high up to 20 m. Their ocra and orange colored sands derive from volcanic deposits as well as unusual orange limestone found in the area. The color of the sea varies from blue to dark blue.
At the end of bay there are two towers; Torre Negra and Torre di Bantine sale. Behind the beach is situated Lake Baratz which is the only natural salt lake in Sardinia. Between Lago Baratz and Porto Ferro one can find bike ride and hike path.
The beach is a beautiful crescent of fine sand and reddish, which is dominated by three magnificent towers of Aragonesi'600: Torre Negra, White Tower and Torre de Bantine Sale.
Accommodation is possible around Mugoni beach, one can be found in a nearby hotel of Porto Conte bay , in camps along the coast in the direction of the beach Le Bombarde or in private accommodation like villa and appartments. Take a road map of Sassari and Alghero
Lago Baratz
The area of lake Lago Baratz strech under 60 ha. It is calming location and you can take a walk around the lake and observe nature of environment. You may see wild ducks and if very lucky water turtles.
